Zeus: God of the Skies
Child of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, Zeus was the king of the Gods. He was also the God of the Skies and Thunder. Zeus controlled the weather and anything in the skies. He lived on Mt. Olympus and had many children. Zeus was married several times. His final wife was Hera, the goddess of marriage. He had several children over time and there were eleven of them. His children were: Aphrodite, Hermes, Ares, Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Hephaestus, Dionysus, Asklepios, and Hercules, and Helios. The God of the Skies has been featured not only in Greek mythology and religion, but also in books movies, such as "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and also some video games, like "Scribblenauts Unlimited" and other titles. Did you know Zeus had a favorite child? He did! Athena was his favorite child and he let her borrow most of his godly weapons, but NOBODY was allowed to touch his Lightning Bolts! Zeus' signature animals are the bull and the eagle and he can also be represented by an oak, lightning, dark skies, or the astronomical symbol for Jupiter, made from the Romans' version of Zeus, Jupiter, to represent him and the King of Planets.
